The SOL 6W Surface Mounted LED Downlight features a modern rounded-rectangular cuboid profile that adds a clean architectural element to the ceiling while providing focused illumination from a compact fitting. The surface mounted design requires no ceiling cut-out or ceiling void, making it suitable for concrete ceilings, exposed timber and solid structures where recessed installation is not practical. The 6W output works well for smaller spaces and focused applications such as reading areas, shelving, display cabinets, kitchen nooks and smaller work areas. With 15/24/36/55/60 deg beam options and black or white finishes with glossy black or white reflectors, SOL can be specified to suit different interior settings. Contact us for more details.

Frequently Asked Questions About This Downlight

Q: When should I choose a surface-mounted downlight over a recessed downlight?

A: Choose a surface-mounted downlight when the ceiling can't be cut or there isn't enough ceiling void for a recessed fitting. Typical cases include concrete slabs, exposed timber beams, low ceiling voids and retrofits where the existing ceiling should stay untouched. The fitting mounts directly on the ceiling face, so no cut-out is required.

Q: Can surface mounted downlights be used on low ceilings?

A: Yes, because they don't need any ceiling void. They do sit proud of the ceiling, so check the fitting depth against the ceiling height, particularly above doorways and walkways.
